In Ireland we use flexible piping like land drainage pipe without the holes obviously... but mechanical ventilation is optional... has to be air tight.. also you can get a heat recovery vents that go into 150mm pipe in the external wall in each room...

It goes to show how the hell did they build the railway tunnels under ground using millions and millions of bricks one continues arch it's mind blowing in Liverpool the train tunnel under the Mersey took 38 million bricks in it's construction when you think the tobbaco warehouse was 27 million bricks and that was the biggest brick building in the world brilliant work team

Why do you remove so much mortar? Wouldn't the wall be stronger if it was pointed almost to the outside edge of the brick?
